TODAY'S KEY MESSAGE
COVID-19 Positivity Rate Up To 12%; Vaccines Are Best Protection
|
|
- The Delta variant is continuing to spread in Maricopa County and 12% of all COVID-19 tests are now coming back positive.
- Half-measures are not enough. Getting just one dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine means your protection can be as low as 30 percent against the virus. (Johnson and Johnson’s vaccine only requires one dose.)
- If you have gotten fully vaccinated, make sure your kids are protected, too. Children ages 12 and up can get the Pfizer vaccine.
- With in-person classes at schools across Maricopa County already starting, now is a good time to protect your child by getting them vaccinated.

An Easier Way to Find A Vaccine Appointment
Public Health’s newly updated vaccine site map now shows if appointments are available at some large pharmacy chains. This makes it a little bit easier for you to know that you can get vaccinated at that location before you even click or call.

Get Election Facts
There’s a new to way to get facts about Maricopa County elections. The Maricopa County Elections Department launched JustTheFacts.Vote to address questions and misconceptions about the 2020 General Election as well as the processes and procedures that professional, dedicated, and impartial Election Department staff and bi-partisan temporary workers follow every election to ensure the safety, security, and integrity of the vote. The website takes the often-complex world of elections and makes it understandable for residents who may have honest questions about why things are done a certain way.

PETS AND PLACES
Pet of the Week
Oso
Can you believe that even though Oso is only around two years old, he's spent nearly four months of his life waiting to find a home? Maybe you can help him change that! Oso is a young pup who loves to go for walks, sniff and explore the outdoors, and splash around in kiddie pools to cool off. He's a smart boy who already knows how to sit and shake on cue, and would probably love to learn some new tricks to show off if you'll take a little time to teach him! He’s very friendly but would like to be the only dog in his home at this time.
Place of the Week
McDowell Mountain Regional Park
