October 27: Last Recommended Day to Return Ballot by Mail

October 27, 2020 (Phoenix) — Today is the last recommended day for voters to mail back their early ballot for the November General Election.

Voters have three options to return a ballot:

• Mail it back: October 27 is the recommended deadline. Postmarks do not count.
• Drop it off: Voters may drop off their early ballot at any Maricopa County Vote Center or secure ballot drop box by November 3 at 7 p.m.
• Vote in person: Voters with an early ballot may also choose to vote in person between now and Election Day.

In order to be valid and counted, state law requires voters to return ballots to the Elections Department or vote in person prior to 7 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3. Before mailing an early ballot, voters must sign the green affidavit return envelope so their vote can be counted.

Voters can track their early ballot by texting "Join" to 628-683 or visiting BeBallotReady.Vote. The text message service will notify voters when their ballot is prepared, mailed, received, and verified and counted.

For voters who prefer to vote in person, Maricopa County has voting locations open across the county. In-person voters can expect to see locations large enough to allow for physical distancing. Voters are no longer assigned one location, and can choose the time and location that works for them, including some evenings and weekends. The Elections Department has implemented enhanced safety protocols, including requiring poll workers to wear masks, face shields and gloves, and frequently cleaning high-touch surfaces and sanitizing pens after each use. Masks and gloves are available for all voters should they not bring their own.

Maricopa County is expecting historic voter turnout with nearly 2.6 million voters eligible to participate. Maricopa County has already seen an increase in early ballot returns, with more than 55 percent of early ballots requested already returned, totaling more than 1.15 million ballots.

The last day to vote is Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
