An Update on Case Counts
We’re starting to see higher daily case counts in Maricopa County, including an increase of 176 positive cases from yesterday. This is something we expected. More people are being tested in our county and statewide because of greater testing availability. This is naturally going to lead to a rise in overall positive cases. Maricopa County Public Health will remain focused on the data represented in the hospitalization epi curve, which is not impacted by the amount of testing done. The curve has remained relatively flat in recent days.
National Nurses Week
Nurses are doing important, life-saving work across our region. Some of them are Maricopa County employees. They work in clinics, offices, jails, homeless shelters, and even in the homes of clients. They provide direct care, consultation and support, training, and case management. As part of the COVID-19 response, some are involved in disease investigation. These health care professionals at Public Health and Correctional Health Services are making individuals, families, and our entire community safer and healthier. For National Nurses Week, we recognize and honor their work and that of nurses countywide.
