About Us

Maricopa County Environmental Services provides essential, regional environmental services seeking to prevent and remove environmental health risks. The Department’s Environmental Health Specialists and Field Technicians are in the community every day making sure that among other things, food in all the eating and drinking establishments in the County is protected from contamination, that water supplies throughout the County are safe to drink, and that vector borne health illnesses and risks are minimized. It is our belief that with continued support, future generations will reap the benefits of today’s actions.

Resolution to Assist Annual Permit Holders During COVID-19

Maricopa County Environmental Services (MCESD) appreciates you as a customer and realizes the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has had adverse effects on many businesses. In an effort to assist permit holders through this difficult time, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution on April 22, 2020 that will be in effect from April 1 through September 30, 2020. This resolution allows annual MCESD permit holders that request it, to pay their annual permit fee(s) in two (2) installments. The first half of the permit fee will be due on the permit renewal date and the balance of the permit fee would be due six (6) months after the renewal date. In addition, we will not be collecting permit reinstatement fees during this time. Please note that these adjustments do not apply to one-time permits or plan review services.  We are hopeful this modified billing process will enable operators to keep their businesses open. If you would like to make arrangements to utilize these temporary options, please contact our permit office by calling (602) 506-6824. Partial payments can only be processed over the phone.

Traditional one-time annual permit fees can be made online through our website at ESD.Maricopa.gov by clicking “Pay a Fee” or by calling (602) 506-6824. As a reminder, all of our customer service lobbies remain closed to ensure the health and safety of our customers and staff. Please visit our Virtual Permit Counter for links to our applications, forms and assistance with online plan submittal. We hope these payment options bring some comfort during this challenging time, and we wish you the best of health.
