COVID-19 Testing and Update, Contact Tracing, Executive Orders, and Heat Awareness

  April 29th, 2020

Message from Supervisor Gates

Dear Friends,

Maricopa County is currently in the process of developing a plan to expand its staffing capacity to conduct COVID-19 contact tracing by eight to 10 times its current level. This is critical to protect our community from further spread. Please watch Dr. Sunenshine’s Press Conference on contract tracing below.

This Thursday, I will be interviewing our Clerk of the Board, Fran McCarroll about the changes that her office and the County have made so that the community can still view and be engaged with our Board of Supervisor meetings. If you have questions you would like me to ask, please email District3@maricopa.gov or call my office at (602) 506-7562 by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.  We will be posting our interview to social media later this week.

Thank you for continuing to do your part  to "Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected.”

Stay safe,

Bill

Governor Doug Ducey and the Arizona Department of Health Services are excited to partner with the community to expand COVID-19 testing for Arizonans. For the next three Saturdays, several community providers will be participating in the Arizona Testing Blitz.

Testing will take place at drive-thru and onsite locations across the state. Testing locations, hours and registration information can be found at azhealth.gov/testingblitz.

Governor Ducey's Executive Order

Governor Ducey Issues New Guidance On Elective Surgeries, April 22, 2020

Elective Surgeries to Resume May 1 for Health Care Facilities that Meet Preparedness Standards

With hospitals reporting increased availability of personal protective equipment (PPE) and bed capacity, Governor Ducey issued an Executive Order removing restrictions on conducting elective surgeries for hospitals, health care facilities and providers that meet certain preparedness criteria. Hospitals, dental offices and other health facilities can resume conducting elective surgeries on May 1 if they can show they have implemented measures intended to keep health care workers and patients safe. Details HERE.

Census Count for our Community

For every person counted, from infants to young children to older adults, Arizona receives $2,959 from the federal government. This amount adds up to more than $20 billion every year for our state. The more people counted, the more money each community stands to receive. Arizona is currently below the national average for returned responses, get your response in today!

Court Filing Options

Flag

Although demand for services at the Clerk of the Superior Court in Maricopa County has tapered slightly since Governor Ducey issued the “Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected” order, there has been an increase in traffic in some facilities, particularly at the file counter located within the Central Court Building in downtown Phoenix.

In order to ensure proper physical distancing, the Clerk’s Office would like to remind the public to consider remote filing options (such as by mail, depository box or eFile) when allowable. Those who are interested can learn more by visiting Clerk of the Superior Court.

In the event that remote filing is not an option and in-person filing is required or necessary, the Clerk’s Offices at the Northeast facility, Northwest facility and Central Court Building remain open during normal business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday to accept filings in-person.

Heat Awareness and Safety

Heat

With Arizona’s extreme heat advisories, remember to stay hydrated and ensure you take frequent breaks if you or your children are playing outside. Trails are open but be especially conscientious of the weather. And remember, trails are closed to animals when the temperature hits 100 degrees. Visit HeatAZ.org for more info.
