Statewide Updates
There are several new developments at the state level in the fight against COVID-19. Among them:
Stimulus Checks
The Internal Revenue Service started sending out stimulus payments this week. The first payments will go to those who’ve already filed their 2018 or 2019 tax returns and signed up for direct deposit. Social Security recipients will also receive checks automatically, whether they have filed a return or not. You can sign up for direct deposit, update your bank information, or check the status of your payment by using the U.S. Treasury Department’s new web portal, which went live today.
*A reminder: taxes are not due today. The IRS extended the filing and payment deadline from April 15 to July 15.
