The local city elections are just one week before Arizona’s Democratic Presidential Preference Election. It’s too late to mail back your ballot for the March 10 election. The Maricopa County Elections Department recommends voters drop off their ballot at any of our voting locations, including Preference Election early voting locations. Find them at Locations.Maricopa.Vote. If your city ballot is lost or damaged, Tempe and Chandler voters can visit one of four ballot replacement sites from 6 a.m. – 7 p.m. today:
It’s important to know that registered Democrats on the permanent early voting list in Tempe and Chandler may have TWO ballots. Voters must return city election ballots in the envelope with the BLACK stripe BY 7 P.M. TODAY and the Democratic Presidential Preference Election ballot in the envelope with the RED stripe BY MARCH 17. As of Monday, about 29% of voters in Tempe returned a city election ballot, while about 24% of Chandler voters sent back a jurisdictional ballot. In order to be valid and counted, ballots must be placed in a designated ballot box by 7 p.m. today. The Elections Department will post city election results at 8 p.m. Voters can track their ballot by texting "Join" to 628-683 or visiting TextSignUp.Maricopa.Vote. The text message service will notify voters when their ballot is mailed, received, verified and sent to be counted.
