The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors issued a proclamation recognizing October as Domestic Violence Month. Maricopa County has partnered with the City of Phoenix, the State of Arizona, and local community organizations to continue to raise awareness about domestic violence. It was great to attend the Arizona County Supervisor Association Annual Legislative Summit to hear former Governor and Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt speak about water policy.
It is always an honor to be invited to the East Valley Partnership to speak with local leaders dedicated to economic development, education and public safety in the East Valley.
I enjoyed speaking at the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce Good Government Series along with Supervisor Jack Sellers.
In October, I spoke at the Fraesfield Trailhead Opening celebration (located north of 134th and Rio Verde) along with Councilwoman Littefield. I appreciate the long-standing relationship with the City and County, and the multitude of volunteers to make sure we have a seamless connection between the Preserve, McDowell Mountain Regional Park and Maricopa Trail.
McDowell Mountain Regional Park is getting national recognition! The park was named one of the "Best for Outdoor Enthusiasts" in the TripSavvy Editors' Choice Awards. More than 60,000 businesses were reviewed and only 620 made the cut with McDowell Mountain Regional Park being one of them. This award is just another reminder of all this park has to offer, from camping, hiking, or mountain biking. Visiting and touring Paz de Cristo in Mesa was informative and worthwhile. They do truly amazing the work serving homeless individuals, not only providing more than 50,000 meals each month, but also assistance toward self-sufficiency. Every Arizonan needs to know that beginning October 1, 2020, driver licenses and ID cards without a gold star in the upper right corner will no longer be accepted as identification at airports.
