About Us

Maricopa County Environmental Services provides essential, regional environmental services seeking to prevent and remove environmental health risks. The Department’s Environmental Health Specialists and Field Technicians are in the community every day making sure that among other things, food in all the eating and drinking establishments in the County is protected from contamination, that water supplies throughout the County are safe to drink, and that vector borne health illnesses and risks are minimized. It is our belief that with continued support, future generations will reap the benefits of today’s actions.

ATTENTION: ESD Intake Counter closed on the 19th during morning hours

The Environmental Services Intake Counter at 501 N. 44th Street, Phoenix, will be closed on Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 8 am till noon ONLY (reopening at noon).  The Air Quality and Planning & Development Intake Counters will remain open.  Customer Service for Environmental Services will be provided at our other department offices during regular hours (Locations & Hours)  and through our Call Center (602) 506-6616.

Maricopa County has been working on redesigning our  Web sites to provide a much better customer experience. The new sites will feature improved search capabilities, a better mobile experience, and reduced clutter. These improvements, and the consistency you’ll now see across pages, will make it easier to find what you need.  Stay tuned for all the changes coming SOON!

You don't have to wait till the unveiling of the new Website redesign to start experiencing the user friendly changes. Right NOW, and as part of the website enhancement project, you can find a new convenient way to do business online with your Maricopa County permitting departments, including Environmental Services! A new Permitting Services Web page  walks you, step-by-step, through the process of applying for and obtaining some of the most commonly-requested permits in Maricopa County.  We explain what you need to know before you start, link you directly to applications and other helpful resources, and provide a faster way to apply online or in person.

Whether you’re just getting started, need to schedule an inspection, pay permit fees, or check your permit status, the Permitting Services home page will link you directly to where you need to go.

Want some guidance before you start?  Great!  We have an easy, online form that allows you to tell us a little about the location and nature of your project.  Our team will get back to you quickly with suggested next steps.
