Dear Friends,
What a month of weather so far! Maricopa County enjoyed a record few days of rain last week as the remnants of Hurricane Rosa rolled through. Some areas around the county have seen more than 5.5 inches of rain since the end of September, more than all of the monsoon season combined. Thank you to the Maricopa County Flood Control District for all of their preparation and monitoring during the storm.
I’d like to congratulate Lee Ann Bohn, our newly appointed Assistant County Manager. Lee Ann comes to us from the Judicial Branch where she was the Director of Financial Operations. She has held many other county administrative positions and is a welcomed addition to our executive team.
Lastly, as we get closer to Election Day, I have included important dates and checklists to ensure you are ready to vote on November 6th. If you have the ability, please consider signing up to be a paid poll worker. You can find more information on applying below.
All my best,
Bill

After voters experienced a myriad of issues on Election Day, my colleagues and I on the Board of Supervisors approved a $200,000 appropriation to have both internal and external auditors investigate the issues that persisted during the election. The right to vote is fundamental and we want to avoid repeating these issues in the November general election.
The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors is committed to providing the Recorder’s Office with the tools and resources necessary to facilitate a smooth general election. Conducting and releasing this initial review is one of many steps in that process.
You may visit the Maricopa County’s 2018 Primary Election Review webpage for additional information as well as report any primary election day problems or other experiences. Public input will be a part of the ongoing review conducted both internally and with our external partners.

Thank you to Mayor Thelda Williams, Vice Mayor Jim Waring, and the Rio Vista Village Planning Committee for their willingness to listen to New River and Desert Hills residents on the proposed 70-acre subdivision north of Anthem. They showed tremendous leadership by listening to the concerns of the most affected residents, even though they live outside of the city boundaries.
