Dear Friends,
Happy Independence Day!
As we celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the 13 American Colonies becoming a new nation, I wish all of you a safe and happy Fourth of July. Whether you are heading for cooler weather or staying in town, please celebrate safely and responsibly.
Fun fact: There were 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence, but the Continental Congress actually voted to declare independence on July 2nd.
All my best,
Bill
*The Maricopa County offices will be closed on July 4th.
Due to the extreme drought, I would encourage residents to weigh the fire danger and use an abundance of caution when lighting fireworks or consider celebrating the Fourth of July in another fashion by attending one of the many fireworks displays hosted throughout the valley.

As of July 1st, it is against the law for teens to text and drive. Drivers between the age of 15 1/2 and 18 are now prohibited from using cellphones while driving. Exceptions to the law come if the driver needs to use their phone in a specific emergency situation or to listen to navigation.
This serves as a good reminder that the city of Phoenix already has a texting and driving ban for all drivers. For the safety of our community, do not drive distracted.
