A
great partnership between Maricopa County Flood Control District and Town of
Gilbert will create a new place for families to connect in our region. The
Town of Gilbert has released plans for a new Gilbert Regional Park located
within the Maricopa County Chandler Heights Flood Basin. This is great for both
Gilbert residents and Maricopa County taxpayers.

Last month community
partners came together to call attention to the work being
done for justice involved individuals with mental illness in Maricopa County.
It is estimated that 4,000 individuals with Serious Mental Illness are admitted
into our jails each year. Funding barriers and limited opportunities available
to law enforcement and families have led to local jails becoming the default
treatment centers. Together with our partners we are doing our best to use our
resources wisely to connect people to care and share data across the health and
justice systems.
Thanks to the Queen
Creek Chamber of Commerce for the invitation to give a county

Brian Hushek, Deputy Budget Director Budget Office
This month, we are featuring a County employee who has seen a lot of changes during his tenure here at Maricopa County. Brian Hushek is an Arizona native and has a Bachelor’s degree in General Business Administration from Arizona State University. Go Devils!
Brian worked in his family’s business before joining the Maricopa County Central Budget Office in August 1993. For nearly 25 years, Brian has served in many capacities within the Budget Office, most recently as a Deputy Budget Director since 2002. He is known for his collaborative approach to resolving issues, and is always ready and willing to help when called upon. He is routinely the “go to” person whenever anyone is seeking out institutional knowledge.
In his free time, Brian enjoys working out and traveling
- especially to Cabo San Lucas - to relax
and take in a little deep sea fishing.
We
are grateful for all the years Brian has given to Maricopa County and its citizens and we wish him the best in his upcoming retirement!
