MapLIT Redesign

First launched in 2015, MapLIT is a product of the collaboration of partners in Read On Arizona, our state's collective impact initiative for early literacy. MapLIT is a powerful, interactive mapping tool combining shared data from multiple state agencies to help inform effective strategies, policies, and investments. The latest redesign includes advanced filtering capabilities, highlighted key topics, updated census data overlays and customizable reporting options.

MAG Population Estimates

The MAG Regional Council has adopted the July 1, 2022, population estimates for jurisdictions in the MAG region. These population estimates are created in conjunction with the State Demographer, and are updated every year. The estimates and methodology can be found here.

ACS/Demographic Viewer Update

MAG provides a variety of products that use American Community Survey (ACS) data including interactive map viewers, data dashboards, and infographics. The Arizona Demographics map viewer and Community Profiles dashboard  have been updated to include the recently released 2021 ACS data. Other products such as the commute shed reports will be updated in the coming weeks.

The Census Bureau’s ACS is an ongoing survey that measures socioeconomic conditions of the nation’s resident population. The Census Bureau releases data annually that provide estimates based on surveys collected over 1-year and 5-year periods. Topics in the ACS include education, income, poverty, housing, employment, and more. The ACS is used for a variety of programs, including grant applications, economic development, population studies, human services planning, and more.

Employer Data Update

Our data and mapping tools have been updated with the latest 2021 data from the Arizona COG/MPO Employer Database. The Arizona Employer map viewer is a powerful interactive map that visualizes the employer data and allows for custom selections and summary reports. The Business, Jobs, and Industry Explorer is an interactive dashboard that provides an overview of employers, jobs, and business locations, as well as data by industry clusters, key industries, and foreign-owned businesses.

Recreation Viewer

Discover outdoor recreation opportunities in our region with the MAG Recreation viewer. Easily filter public parks and open space, not only in your city, but region-wide, to find the amenities you are interested in. From pickleball, splash pads to dog parks, the MAG Recreation viewer has you covered. New in town? Explore the region's many trails, preserves and attractions. Data is refreshed yearly and has recently been updated.

2023 Maps & Data Training Both In-Person and Virtual

We began the new year by offering our maps and data training in a new format: hybrid! Our January 19 session was well attended – both in person and online – and the post-training survey gave us high marks and great feedback. We will continue the hybrid format for the rest of the year.
