MAG Regional Analytics Digest: Quarterly update for MAG data and map users

Regional Analytics Digest | August 2019 | Maricopa Association of Governments
Inside this Issue:

Heat Relief Network

The Heat is on! Each summer, MAG coordinates the mapping of the Heat Relief Network, a network of partners providing hydration stations, refuge locations, and water donation sites throughout the Valley with the goal of preventing heat-related and heat-caused deaths among vulnerable populations and people experiencing homelessness. Partners fill out an online submission in the spring to be included on the Heat Relief Network Interactive Viewer. Printed directories are also made available to network partners for distribution.

Read On Arizona Tools

Back to school time is fast approaching. MAG has partnered with Read On Arizona and built some powerful tools for exploring and comparing Arizona schools. With the new Explore Arizona Schools tool, parents can learn about the education options for their family, from pre-k to high school. The Arizona Schools Data Center, a comparative dashboard developed earlier this year, provides analytics on enrollment, attendance, and assessment trend results by school, grade, and subgroup. Lastly, the most comprehensive MapLIT interactive mapping and analysis tool is an education planning resource that pulls together key data sets (census, school, health, family engagement) that can influence early literacy outcomes in communities.

MAG Community Data Explorer

The MAG Community Data Explorer is a new interactive dashboard that visualizes data from the U.S. Census Bureau and statewide Employer database. Users can select a geography from the dropdown menu to explore a community's data including demographics, employment, housing, and more.

Socioeconomic Projections

MAG has created a new set of long-range socioeconomic projections for the region. This data projects population, number of dwelling units, and number of jobs for the region through 2055. View the data graphically on the projections web viewer. The full report can be downloaded from our website here.

MAG Map Viewer Training

MAG interactive map viewer training is available the first Wednesday of each month in 2019 in downtown Phoenix. There is also one more training slated for September 26 at the Arizona@Work: Maricopa County site in West Phoenix and one more training in Gilbert on October 24.
