24-hour single lane closures in each direction of US 60 near Gold Canyon scheduled for upcoming weeks
Lane closures will continue on the eastbound and westbound lanes of US 60 east of Kings Ranch Road between mileposts 204 and 211 in the upcoming weeks for paving. This seven-mile segment is part of the US 60 improvement project between Siphon Draw and State Route 79. Crews will be working daily, including weekends, from 2 a.m. to 7 p.m. beginning Monday (Aug. 22) until Thursday (Sept.1).
What to expect during the next few weeks:
-
Intermittent lanes closures are scheduled on eastbound and westbound lanes between mileposts 204 and 211 for paving work, stockpiled construction materials, and to ensure the safety of motorists traveling through the construction zone.
-
One lane in each direction will be open at all times.
-
Crews will work from 2:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
-
Access to the Gold Canyon community at Kings Ranch Road, Mountainbrook Drive and Superstition Mountain Drive will not be restricted although traffic congestion may occur due to reduced speed limits in the construction zone and the mobilization of heavy construction equipment.
-
The speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph through the construction zones.
-
Motorists should expect delays of up to 20 minutes.
-
Paving work requiring lane closures will take place in segments over the next 3-4 months.
Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
Since June, crews have been repairing a number of bridges along the 12-mile project area. These improvements are part of the US 60: Siphon Draw to State Route 79 project (mileposts 199-212) that includes crushed asphalt recycling and paving, bridge repair, placing median crossovers, guardrail reconstruction, replacing pavement markings and other improvements. The project’s anticipated completion is December 2011.
The project schedule is subject to change due to a variety of reasons, including weather, material availability and mechanical difficulties.
