State Route 51 (Piestewa Freeway) Update

Northbound State Route 51 Ramp to Eastbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) Closed This Weekend (Aug. 12-15)

As work continues on the HOV lanes on the Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway), drivers on State Route 51 should be aware of a number of upcoming restrictions and closures, which include:

• Eastbound Loop 101 closed between 7th Avenue and Tatum Boulevard from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 15) for rubberized asphalt paving. I-17 ramps to eastbound Loop 101 also closed. DETOUR for Loop 101: Traffic will use the frontage road (Beardsley Road) to Cave Creek Road, then south to Union Hills Drive, east to State Route 51 then north to reconnect with Loop 101. DETOUR for I-17: Traffic can use eastbound Union Hills Drive to access Loop 101 via State Route 51. NOTE: Northbound State Route 51 connecting ramp to eastbound Loop 101 will be closed from 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 14) for installation of loop detectors. During this closure, traffic from Loop 101 will use Union Hills to Tatum Boulevard north to access Loop 101 at Tatum Boulevard.
  
   
• State Route 51 northbound HOV ramp to eastbound Loop 101 closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Aug. 15).
