Closures at Arizona Street and Ruppe Avenue in Bisbee scheduled for next week

 

Street closures will be in place at Arizona Street and Ruppe Avenue in Bisbee from Monday (Aug. 8) through Friday (Aug. 12) while the Arizona Department of Transportation continues the installation of enhanced crosswalks as part of a $1.7 million project to reconstruct a segment of Arizona Street in the historic Warren District.

 

Beginning Monday, Ruppe Avenue will be closed at Arizona Street to allow crews to install the new crosswalks, which will feature brick pavers, pedestrian ramps, low decorative walls, landscaping and solar lighting. Work will begin at 6 a.m. Monday and Tuesday and the closure will remain in effect around the clock until those crosswalks are completed late Tuesday. During this part of the closure, traffic on Ruppe Avenue eastbound will be detoured to East Vista and Tener Avenue.

 

Starting at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Arizona Street will be closed at Ruppe Avenue to begin the second phase of the crosswalk installation. This work is expected to continue through Friday with around-the-clock closures until those crosswalks are completed. During this part of the closure, traffic on Arizona Street north of the intersection will be detoured to Tener Avenue and traffic south of Ruppe will be detoured to Black Knob View.

 

Motorists are advised to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
