Plan for I-40 ramp closures at Silver Springs Road east of Kingman Oct. 28

Drivers will be detoured to Willow Ranch Road and the I-40/US 93 interchange

US 93 Silver Springs

Crews repave an 8-mile segment of eastbound I-40, between US 93 and Silver Springs Road (mileposts 72-80).

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists traveling on Interstate 40 east of Kingman to prepare for a full closure of the interchange ramps at I-40 and Silver Springs Road (Exit 79):

  • Both the eastbound I-40 off-ramp and the westbound I-40 on-ramp at Silver Springs Road (Exit 79) will be closed from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28.
  • Motorists will be detoured to Willow Ranch Road (Exit 87) and the I-40/US 93 (Exit 71) traffic junction.

The closure is necessary to allow crews to replace the cattle guard with new pavement.

As a reminder, the following overnight traffic restrictions are currently in place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday evenings through Friday mornings:

  • Eastbound I-40 is narrowed to one lane between US 93 and Silver Springs Road (mileposts 72-80).
  • A 14-foot vehicle width restriction is in place.
  • The speed limit is reduced in the work zone.

The lane restrictions are scheduled to remain in place through the end of the year as work continues on a pavement preservation project on an 8-mile segment of eastbound I-40, between US 93 and Silver Springs Road (mileposts 72-80).

ADOT reminds drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution and watch for construction personnel and equipment while construction is underway. For more information, visit the project webpage.
