An open house for the I-19 frontage roads project in Rio Rico is scheduled for Sept. 22

Learn about the current design concepts and plans for improvements at the frontage roads between Ruby Road and Rio Rico Drive

Santa Cruz County, in collaboration with the Arizona Department of Transportation, will host an open house for a frontage road project along Interstate 19, between Ruby Road and Rio Rico Drive, on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

The project team will share the current design concepts, answer questions and receive public comments.  

The project, located in Rio Rico, will begin construction near Rio Rico Drive to improve traffic flow and access in the area, with further improvements happening at Ruby Road at a later date. This project will provide better access to businesses, residences, Calabasas School, and emergency services along the corridor. The project is currently in the design phase, design is expected to be completed in spring 2027. Construction on the east frontage road improvements is anticipated to start summer 2027.
