The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to plan for overnight lane restrictions and ramp closures throughout the I-17 Improvement Project corridor during the upcoming week. The restrictions will begin the evening of Sunday, March 16, and end the morning of Saturday, March 22, as work continues on the I-17 Improvement Project between Anthem Way and Sunset Point.
Bumble Bee Road over southbound I-17 and under northbound I-17 will be fully closed to all traffic 24 hours a day until Friday, March 21, for continuing bridge work.
Drivers may experience a rolling closure in the work zones during the hours listed below. This involves traffic traveling slowly behind a two-lane operation. Drivers should also be aware of increased DPS presence in the project corridor. The extra enforcement patrols will focus on hazardous driver behaviors that could create safety issues in the work zone for both travelers and construction crews.
Drivers should allow extra travel time, drive with caution, follow the posted 65 mph speed limit in the work zone, and watch for construction personnel and equipment while the following restrictions are in place:
Northbound
- Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (alternating right- and left-lane closures) near New River Road (mileposts 231-232) nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning the evening of Sunday, March 16, and ending the morning of Thursday, March 20, for bridge work.
- Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (alternating right- and left-lane closures) near New River Road (mileposts 231-232) from 7 p.m. Thursday, March 20, to 6 a.m. Friday, March 21, for bridge work.
- Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (alternating right- and left-lane closures) north of Table Mesa Road (mileposts 238-240) nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning the evening of Monday, March 17, and ending the morning of Wednesday, March 19, for bridge work.
- Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (alternating right- and left-lane closures) near Black Canyon City (mileposts 243-244) nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning the evening of Monday, March 17, and ending the morning of Thursday, March 20, for electrical work.
- Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (left lane closed) near Bumble Bee Road (mileposts 246-248) nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning the evening of Monday, March 17, and ending the morning of Thursday, March 20, for electrical work.
- Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (right lane closed) near Sunset Point (mileposts 251-253) from 7 p.m. Thursday, March 20, to 6 a.m. Friday, March 21, for guardrail work.

Southbound
- The off-ramp from southbound I-17 to Anthem Way (exit 229) will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday, March 21, to 7 a.m. Saturday, March 22, for paving.
- Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (alternating right- and left-lane closures) from Sunset Point to north of Table Mesa Road (mileposts 253-237) nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. beginning the evening of Monday, March 17, and ending the morning of Saturday, March 22, for electrical work, bridge work, guardrail work and paving.
