Eastbound Collector-Distributor Road Opens
Crews opened the eastbound Collector-Distributor (CD) road earlier this week. ADOT realizes that the CD road is a new experience for Phoenix area drivers and encourages drivers to slow down and pay attention to signage so that they can navigate safely and efficiently through the I-10 Broadway Curve project area. The Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project is still an active construction work zone and the speed limit throughout the project area, including the CD road, is 55 mph.

The CD roads, shown in blue here, will reduce the need for vehicles to weave between lanes and will help keep traffic flowing on I-10.

Multiuse Bridge Update
In October, workers placed the last piece of truss of the multiuse bridge over I-10 at Alameda Drive. This last piece connects the bridge to the west-side landing. Then, crews were able to start constructing the bridge deck.
Crews also began placing the decorative elements on the multiuse bridge, which are designed and built to look like prickly pear cactus fruit. Once completed, the multiuse bridges over I-10 at Alameda Drive and the Western Canal will each have a total of ten cactus fruit pieces.
In the photo above, a crane lifts the piece of truss that will connect the multiuse bridge over I-10 to the west-side landing at Alameda Drive.

Question: Why is the speed limit 55 mph in the construction zone?
Answer: Every weekday, more than 300,000 vehicles drive through the project area – sometimes just a few feet away from the workers building new bridges and travel lanes. Crashes in the work zone are most often attributed to speed and distraction. The 55 mph speed limit helps to ensure the workers stay safe and you arrive at your destination safely. Community Office Holiday Hours
The I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project community office will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday beginning at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 2. Have a safe holiday weekend!
