Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) closures planned Nov. 16-17

Arizona Avenue at Loop 202 long-term lane restrictions begin Nov. 15

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to allow extra travel time while the following closures are in place for the Loop 202 (Santan Freeway), Loop 101 to Val Vista Drive widening project:

Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) Closures (Nov. 16-17)

  • Eastbound Loop 202 between McQueen and Cooper roads will be closed from 12 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16.
    • The westbound HOV lane between Cooper and McQueen roads also will be closed.
    • DETOUR: Motorists traveling east on Loop 202 may consider exiting ahead of the closure and using Pecos or Germann roads.
  • Westbound Loop 202 between Cooper and McQueen roads will be closed from 12 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17.
    • The eastbound HOV lane between McQueen and Cooper roads also will be closed.
    • DETOUR: Motorists traveling west on Loop 202 may consider exiting ahead of the closure and using Pecos or Germann roads.

Arizona Avenue Closures/Restrictions (starting Nov. 12)

  • Northbound Arizona Avenue will be closed nightly at Loop 202 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., beginning Tuesday, Nov. 12, and ending the morning of Friday, Nov. 15.
  • NOTE: All left turns at Arizona Avenue and Loop 202 will be prohibited during these nights.
  • Southbound Arizona Avenue will be closed at Loop 202 from 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, to 5 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15. 
  • DETOUR: Motorists traveling on Arizona Avenue may consider taking Germann or Pecos roads to McQueen or Alma School roads to access Arizona Avenue north or south of the closure.
  • NOTE: Immediately following these overnight closures, north- and southbound Arizona Avenue will be narrowed to one lane in each direction at Loop 202 for several months.

Please help us promote highway safety. Speed limits are reduced to 55 miles per hour in work zones for the safety of drivers and workers. Slow down, stay alert and be prepared to merge with caution when approaching and traveling through all work zones.
