Southbound State Route 51 to close between Loop 101 and I-10 this weekend (Oct. 25-26)

Drivers who normally use southbound State Route 51 should plan to use alternate routes for part of this weekend while the following closure is in place for pavement maintenance: 

• Southbound SR 51 will be CLOSED between Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) and Interstate 10/Loop 202 (the “Mini Stack” interchange) from 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.

DETOUR: Drivers may consider using local alternate routes including southbound Cave Creek Road to southbound Seventh Street. Drivers also can consider using westbound Bell Road to southbound I-17 while southbound SR 51 is closed (please note that heavy traffic is expected along westbound Loop 101, which is closed this weekend between 19th Avenue and 51st Avenue). Crews will reopen southbound SR 51 in sections while their work progresses on Saturday.

ADOT advises drivers to use caution and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through all work zones.
