Southbound I-17 to be narrowed overnight to one lane between State Route 74 and Dixileta Drive this weekend (Oct. 4-7)

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) advises drivers to allow extra time while the following lane restrictions and ramp closures are in place this week and weekend for the I-17 Happy Valley Road to SR 74 Pavement Project.

Weekend Restrictions for Oct. 4-7

• Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane between SR 74/Carefree Highway and Dixileta Drive nightly from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights, and from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. The following ramps also will have nightly closures:
  • The southbound I-17 on-and off-ramps at Dove Valley Road
  • The southbound on-ramps at Loop 303/Sonoran Desert Drive and Dixileta Drive
  • NOTE: No two consecutive on-ramps will be closed at the same time.

Weeknight Restrictions for Oct. 3-4

• Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane between SR 74/Carefree Highway and Loop 303/Sonoran Desert Drive and northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane between Happy Valley Road and Loop 303/Sonoran Desert Drive from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday. 

Crews are continuing a much-needed project to improve the pavement along I-17. An older and rough top layer of asphalt pavement has been removed and specialized equipment is now being used to diamond grind the base concrete pavement, creating a smoother, safer and longer lasting riding surface along 6 miles of I-17.

UPCOMING RESTRICTIONS AND CLOSURES

Weekend Restrictions (Oct. 11-14)

• Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane between SR 74/Carefree Highway and Loop 303/Sonoran Desert Drive and then CLOSED at Loop 303/Sonoran Desert Drive starting 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, and ending 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14.

Weekend Restrictions (Oct. 18-21)

• Southbound I-17 will be CLOSED at Loop 303 and then narrowed to one lane to Happy Valley Road starting 10 p.m Friday, Oct. 18, ending 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21.
