Westbound I-10 closure also planned next weekend (Oct. 11-14).

Drivers traveling on Interstate 10 (Papago Freeway) through central Phoenix should plan to use alternate routes this weekend (Oct. 4-7) while a section of I-10 is closed for pavement maintenance. Several ramps connecting I-10 with Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway), State Route 51, and Interstate 17 also will be closed. The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to allow extra travel time while the following closure is in place:

Westbound I-10 will be closed between the I-17 “Split” interchange (near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport) and the I-17 “Stack” interchange from 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7.

DETOUR: Westbound I-10 drivers may consider using Thomas Road or Van Buren Street as alternate routes.
- The following ramps will be closed or restricted:

The southbound I-17 ramp to westbound I-10 at the “Split” will be CLOSED.

DETOUR: Consider exiting southbound I-17 and taking westbound Buckeye Road to access I-10 west of the closure.

The southbound SR 51 ramp to westbound I-10 will be CLOSED.

DETOUR: Consider taking westbound Thomas Road or Van Buren Street to access I-10 west of the closure.

The westbound I-10 on-ramps at Washington Street, 16th Street, 7th Street and 7th Avenue will be CLOSED.

DETOUR: Consider taking westbound Thomas Road or Van Buren Street to access I-10 west of the closure.

The westbound I-10 on-ramp at Sky Harbor Boulevard will be RESTRICTED.

NOTE: Access will be limited to northbound SR 51 or eastbound Loop 202 only.

The westbound Loop 202 on-ramp at 24th Street will be CLOSED.

DETOUR: Consider taking westbound Thomas Road or Van Buren Street to access I-10 west of the closure.

Westbound I-10 is scheduled to close between the I-17 “Split” interchange (near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport) and the I-17 “Stack” interchange from 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14.
ADOT advises drivers to use caution and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through all work zones.
