Plan for daytime alternating lane restrictions on SR 386 (Kitt Peak Highway) Sept. 30-Oct. 16

Drivers should expect delays and allow extra travel time

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan ahead for daytime alternating lane restrictions on north- and southbound State Route 386 (Kitt Peak Highway) on the Tohono O’odham Nation beginning Monday, Sept. 30.

The following lane restrictions will occur daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for rock scaling:

  • North- and southbound SR 386 between mileposts 3 and 7 will have intermittent lane closures beginning Monday, Sept. 30, through Wednesday, Oct.16. Flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic. Note: Only one direction will be impacted at a time.
  • A 12-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place.
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph.

Drivers should plan for delays, obey posted speed limits and traffic control devices and use caution around construction personnel.
