Plan for overnight full closure of SR 87 between Phoenix and Payson Sunday, July 14 for removal of rockslide debris near roadway

Drivers can detour through Globe

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to prepare for a full closure of State Route 87 between Phoenix and Payson from 9 p.m. Sunday, July 14, to 8 a.m. Monday, July 15. The closure is needed so crews can safely remove rockslide debris near the roadway.

  • SR 87 will be closed in both directions between Bush Highway and State Route 188 (mileposts 199-236).
  • Drivers will need to use US 60 and SR 188 through Globe to travel between the Phoenix metro area and Payson. Drivers may also consider using I-17 and SR 260 through Camp Verde.
