ADOT begins road safety improvement project on SR 89 between Paulden and Ash Fork in Yavapai County

Plan for delays while work is underway

The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated a road safety improvement project to install centerline rumblestrips along State Route 89 between the communities of Paulden and Ash Fork (mileposts 339-363). In addition to installing centerline rumble strips, the work includes a fog-seal pavement treatment, permanent pavement markings and other related work.

Construction is scheduled to begin in early April and be completed in early summer 2024.

The following restrictions will be in place weekdays from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. when construction begins:

  • SR 89 will be reduced to one lane only with alternating north- and southbound travel.
  • On-site flaggers and a pilot car will move drivers through the work zone.
  • Drivers should be prepared to stop when approaching and passing through the work zone.
  • Some overnightnight and/or weekend work may also be required.
