Temporary lane configurations will reduce the need for full freeway closures
|
|
Drivers should plan for two new traffic configurations on I-10 starting later this month.
First, during the October 27-30 eastbound I-10 closure, crews will be working to shift the eastbound I-10 lanes between 48th Street and Broadway Road.
When the eastbound I-10 reopens on Monday, Oct. 30, drivers can expect the lanes between 48th Street and Broadway Road to be split with roadway barrier and work zone in between. Then, crews will put in a new westbound Interstate 10 lane configuration between Broadway Road and 48th Street in November.

Westbound I-10 will be closed between US 60 and 40th Street over the weekend of Nov. 17-20. When the freeway reopens on Nov. 20, westbound I-10 drivers can expect the existing lanes between Broadway Road and 48th Street will be split with roadway barrier and work zone in between. Drivers wishing to exit onto northbound State Route 143 should select the right two lanes. Drivers wishing to exit onto 40th Street should select the middle two lanes.
These temporary lane configurations will reduce the need for full freeway closures and will allow the Broadway Curve Constructors to complete constructing the new bridges that will eventually connect SR 143 to the interstate. Drivers can expect these lane configurations into 2024. The project is expected to open the final lane configuration later the same year.
