Expect lane restrictions on State Route 87 south of Payson Aug. 7-18

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for lane restrictions on State Route 87 south of Payson between Green Valley Parkway and Old Payson Road beginning Monday, Aug. 7, through Friday, Aug. 18. 

Drivers should allow for extra travel time while the following daytime restrictions are in place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and 6 a.m. to noon on Fridays, as needed:

• SR 87 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction between Green Valley Parkway and Old Payson Road (mileposts 251 - 247).
• The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.
• A 12-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place. Wider loads can be accommodated with advance notice.
• Drivers should be prepared to come to a complete stop when approaching and driving through the work zone.

The restrictions are needed so crews can safely complete vegetation removal along this section of SR 87.
