Plan for alternating lane restrictions on Interstate 10 in Tonopah through August

Drivers should expert delays and allow extra travel time

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan ahead for continued overnight alternating lane restrictions along Interstate 10 in Tonopah through August. 

The following lane restrictions will occur nightly from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. beginning Sunday, July 9:

  • Westbound I-10 will be reduced to one lane between milepost 90 and 411th Avenue (milepost 94) beginning Sunday, July 9, and ending the morning of Friday, July 14, and then resume Sunday, July 16, and ending the morning of Friday, July 21. 
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph. 

The following lane restrictions will occur 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: 

  • Westbound I-10 between Old Camp Wash (milepost 95) to Coyote Wash (milepost 96) will be reduced to one lane beginning Monday, July 10, and ending Friday, August 4.
  • A 14-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place. 

The following lane restrictions may occur weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, August 4.

  • I-10 may be reduced to one lane with alternating east- and westbound travel at Wintersburg Road (Exit 98)
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph. 

The following I-10 overpass restrictions will occur 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through Wednesday, August 30: 

  • The Wintersburg Road overpass (Exit 98) will be reduced to one lane. Traffic will be controlled by a temporary traffic signal. 
  • A 12-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place. 

Contractors are scheduled to mill and pave the road as part of the I-10, 443rd Avenue to Wintersburg Road pavement preservation project

Drivers should plan for delays, obey posted speed limits and traffic control devices and use caution around construction personnel.
