The Arizona Department of Transportation is initiating a construction project to improve the roadway along a 12-mile section of US 93, roughly between the community of Nothing and State Route 97 (mileposts 144 to 156).
Motorists should be prepared for the following restrictions to allow construction crews to remove and replace the existing guardrail from mileposts 151 to 153:
- Northbound US 93 will be narrowed to one lane from 6 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, through noon on Friday, April 28.
- Drivers should be prepared to slow down and stop in the work zone and expect delays.
- Reduced speed limit in the work zones.
- A 14-foot vehicle-width restriction will be in place.
The project elements include:
- Removing and replacing the existing pavement, including the roadway shoulders and turn lanes.
- Paving the designated unpaved crossovers.
- Replacing the existing guardrail, embankment curb and fencing.
- Bridge deck joint repairs.
- Seeding, applying pavement markings, installing ground-in rumble strips and other related work.
ADOT reminds drivers to be prepared to stop, proceed through the work zone with caution and watch for construction personnel and equipment while construction is underway .
