UPDATE: I-17 closures planned between Northern Avenue and Yorkshire Drive this weekend, March 10-13

This advisory updates locations of this weekend’s I-17 closures.

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following north- and southbound Interstate 17 closures beginning 8 p.m. Friday, March 10, for pavement work:

  • Southbound I-17 will be closed between Cactus Road and Northern Avenue from 8 p.m. Friday, March 10, to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11. The following ramps will also be closed:
    • The southbound I-17 on-ramps at Greenway and Thunderbird roads.

DETOUR: Drivers may consider using eastbound Loop 101 to southbound SR 51 as an alternate freeway route. Southbound I-17 drivers also may consider exiting ahead of the closure and using southbound 19th or 35th avenues. 

  • Northbound I-17 will be closed between Northern Avenue and Yorkshire Drive from 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, to 5 a.m. Monday, March 13. The following ramps will also be closed:
    • The northbound I-17 on-ramps at Bethany Home Road and Glendale Avenue.

DETOUR: Motorists may consider using northbound SR 51 to westbound Loop 101 or exiting ahead of the closures and using northbound 19th or 35th avenues to reach I-17 beyond the closure.

ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while work is underway.

UPCOMING CLOSURE

Southbound I-17 will be closed between Pinnacle Peak Road and Union Hills Drive from 9 p.m. Friday, March 17, to 5 a.m. Monday, March 20. The following ramps will also be closed:

  • Both Loop 101 ramps to southbound I-17
  • The southbound I-17 on-ramps at Happy Valley and Jomax roads
