Drivers should expect delays and allow extra travel time

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for overnight closures on State Route 80 beginning Jan. 8  as work progresses on the SR 80 Mule Pass Tunnel project near Bisbee. Here’s what to expect:

  • SR 80 near Bisbee will be fully closed each night from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. starting Sunday, Jan. 8, through Friday Jan. 13, for lighting work.
  • Message boards will be in place to alert drivers to closures and alternate routes.
  • During the daytime, a 12-foot vehicle width restriction and a 7-foot vehicle height restriction will be in place.

Please use alternate routes during closures and restrictions.

Motorists should plan for delays and proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
