Closures of 19th Avenue, I-17 southbound frontage road and ramps near Durango Curve scheduled this weekend (Nov. 4-7) for paving

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following restrictions along Interstate 17 between 23rd Avenue and Seventh Street south of downtown Phoenix from 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, for pavement maintenance.

  • North- and southbound 19th Avenue at I-17 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction.
  • The southbound I-17 on-ramps at 19th Avenue and Seventh Street will be closed. The southbound I-17 frontage road will be closed just south of 19th Avenue and Seventh Street (open in the area between 15th Avenue and Seventh Street.
  • The southbound I-17 off-ramp at Durango Street and frontage road to 19th Avenue will be closed.

Crews will be resurfacing 19th Avenue near I-17 as well as ramps and sections of frontage road in the area while the closures are in place. Drivers should plan on using alternate routes, including Buckeye Road for east-west travel and Seventh or 27th avenues for north-south travel. 

ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around maintenance personnel and equipment in all work zones.
