Updated: Upcoming weekend closures and lane restrictions on I-10 improvements project in Buckeye

This advisory updates yesterday's message with a correct map

As work continues on the Interstate 10 Improvement Project between State Route 85 and Verrado Way in Buckeye, the Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following restrictions:

The westbound I-10 on- and off-ramps at Watson Road will close, beginning 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, through November.

Detour from westbound I-10 to Watson Road:

• Westbound I-10 drivers can exit at Miller Road, cross under the freeway and enter eastbound I-10 to reach the Watson Road exit.

 Detour from Watson Road to westbound I-10:

• Drivers on Watson Road can enter eastbound I-10, exit at Verrado Way, cross over the freeway and enter the westbound I-10 on-ramp.

In addition, the following I-10 lane restrictions will be in place this weekend:

• Westbound I-10 will be reduced to one lane in the area of the Watson Road interchange from 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, to 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15.

• UPDATED: Eastbound I-10 will be reduced to one lane between Watson Road and Verrado Way from 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17. 

• UPDATED: Westbound I-10 will be reduced to one lane between Watson Road and Verrado Way from 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17. 

Drivers should allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and safely merge when approaching and traveling through highway work zones.
