Plan for month-long lane restrictions on US 89 south of Bitter Springs

The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists to plan for daytime lane restrictions on an eight-mile stretch of US 89 south of Bitter Springs from Monday, Oct. 3, through Thursday, Nov. 3.

Drivers should slow down, proceed through the work zone with caution, and watch for construction personnel and equipment while the following month-long restrictions are in place 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays:

  • US 89 will be narrowed to one lane only with alternating north- and southbound travel, in one-mile intervals, from milepost 510 to 518.
  • A vehicle width limit of 12 feet will be in place.
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.
  • Flaggers may be present to direct motorists through the work zone.

The lane restrictions are needed so crews can perform maintenance to the highway.
