The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan ahead for lane restrictions on Interstate 8 near Gila Bend beginning at 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26.

The following daytime restrictions are scheduled to occur from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Monday, Sept. 26, and ending Thursday, Sept 29:

  • I-8 will be narrowed to one lane in both directions between the State Route 85 Junction (Exit 115) and milepost 134.
  • Note: The I-8 westbound off-ramp and eastbound on-ramp at the SR 85 junction (Exit 115) will be closed intermittently as crews move through the work zone.
  • A 14-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place.
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph.
  • The restrictions will be made in 5-mile increments.

The restrictions are needed  for crews to apply an oil-based sealant to the roadway to extend the life expectancy of the pavement.
