Restrictions on I-10 scheduled to begin March 7
On Interstate 10, the Miller Road westbound off-ramp and eastbound on-ramp are now open for traffic, following a closure that began Jan. 28. The completion of work on those ramps is more than a week ahead of schedule.
The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers who use Interstate 10 in the Buckeye area to plan for continued possible delays as work continues on the I-10 widening project in Buckeye.
Updates to restrictions and closures for the project include:
- The northbound right lane on Watson Road, between the Circle K and the westbound off-ramp, as well as one lane of the eastbound on-ramp will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, March 7 through Saturday, March 12.
- Full closure of the Miller Road underpass, beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday, March 12 through 5 a.m. Monday, March 14. This work will involve removal of the existing structures. All four ramps at Miller Road will remain open but some drivers will need to use detours due to the closure of the underpass:
-
Northbound Miller Road to westbound I-10: drivers should take eastbound Yuma Road to Watson Road
-
Southbound Miller Road to eastbound I-10: take I-10 westbound to exit at SR 85, south to Broadway Road and then east to Miller Road
-
Eastbound I-10 to northbound Miller Road: take I-10 to Watson Road, and then turn to use westbound I-10 to the Miller Road exit.
-
Westbound I-10 to southbound Miller Road: take the Watson Road exit, go south to Yuma Road and then west to Miller Road.
Drivers should allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through highway work zones.
The I-10 Improvement Project is adding a third lane in both directions between Verrado Way and SR 85 in Buckeye and reconstructing the freeway interchanges at Watson and Miller roads. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2023. For more information on this project, visit https://azdot.gov/projects/central-district-projects/i-10-sr85-verrado-way-improvements.
