Full closures of I-17 between Happy Valley Road and Carefree Highway in North Phoenix planned this weekend (Nov. 5-7)

Southbound closed Friday night through Saturday eve; Northbound closed Saturday night through Sunday eve

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan ahead and expect heavy delays for the following closures of north- and southbound Interstate 17 between Happy Valley Road and State Route 74 (Carefree Highway), for pavement sealing maintenance and lane striping:

• Southbound I-17 CLOSED between SR 74 (Carefree Highway) and Happy Valley Road from 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6. The southbound I-17 on-ramps at Daisy Mountain Drive and Pioneer Road will also be closed. 
• Detour: Southbound traffic can exit onto westbound SR 74 and use southbound Lake Pleasant Parkway to eastbound Happy Valley Road to re-enter I-17.
• Northbound I-17 CLOSED between Happy Valley Road and SR 74 from 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7. The northbound I-17 on-ramps at Deer Valley and Pinnacle Peak roads will also be closed. 
• Detour: Northbound traffic can exit onto westbound Happy Valley Road and use northbound Lake Pleasant Parkway to eastbound SR 74 to re-enter I-17. 

Please Note: The extended detour route is in place due to existing local street restrictions on North Valley Parkway and Sonoran Desert Drive from a utility project. Drivers should avoid using 19th or 27th avenues to North Valley Parkway as an alternate route, except for local traffic.  Drivers should also be aware of a full weekend closure of eastbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) between Seventh Street and State Route 51 in north Phoenix for the ongoing freeway widening project.  ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while work is underway.
