Pima Freeway Improvement Project (I-17 to Pima Road) - Closures and restrictions scheduled through Sept. 27

Drivers who use the Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) between Interstate 17 in Phoenix and Pima Road in Scottsdale should slow down in the construction zone and use caution while the following closures and restrictions are in place. Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors.

NOTE – Crews will be applying final striping this weekend to the westbound Pima Freeway between Pima Road and Tatum Boulevard. See below for details.

WEEKEND CLOSURES AND RESTRICTIONS

Pima Freeway between Pima Road and Tatum Boulevard

• The westbound Pima Freeway between Pima Road and Tatum Boulevard will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, for lane striping.
  • Detour north of the Pima Freeway: Drivers can exit the Pima Freeway onto northbound Pima Road, turn west on Pinnacle Peak Road, then travel south on Tatum Boulevard to access the westbound Pima Freeway.
  • Detour south of the Pima Freeway: Drivers can exit the Pima Freeway onto southwest-bound Pima Road/Princess Drive, turn south on Hayden Road, then go west on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard/ Bell Road. From there, head north on Tatum Boulevard to access the westbound Pima Freeway.

Pima Freeway on-ramps from Raintree Drive to 56th Street

• The westbound Pima Freeway on-ramps at Raintree Drive, Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, Pima Road, Hayden Road, Scottsdale Road, 64th Street and 56th Street will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, for lane striping.
  • Detour: Drivers may consider using westbound Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard/Bell Road or Pinnacle Peak Road to Tatum Boulevard to access the westbound Pima Freeway.

UPCOMING CLOSURES and RESTRICTIONS

Pima Freeway between State Route 51 and Cave Creek Road

• The westbound Pima Freeway between State Route 51 and Cave Creek Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27.
  • Detour: Drivers on the westbound Pima Freeway can use southbound State Route 51, exit westbound onto Union Hills Drive, then head north on Cave Creek Road) to access the westbound Pima Freeway.

State Route 51 at the Pima Freeway

• The northbound State Route 51 on-ramp to the westbound Pima Freeway will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27.
  • Detour: Traffic can exit State Route 51 onto westbound Union Hills Drive, then turn north on Cave Creek Road to access the westbound Pima Freeway.

Pima Freeway on-ramps from 64th Street to Tatum Boulevard

• The westbound Pima Freeway on-ramps at 64th and 56th streets, as well as at Tatum Boulevard will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27.
  • Detour:  Drivers can use westbound Mayo Boulevard, Pinnacle Peak Road, or Deer Valley Drive to Cave Creek Road to access the westbound Pima Freeway.
