Pima Freeway Improvement Project (I-17 to Pima Road) - Closures and restrictions scheduled through Aug. 9

Drivers who use the Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) between Interstate 17 in Phoenix and Pima Road in Scottsdale should slow down in the construction zone and use caution while the following closures and restrictions are in place. Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors.

NOTE – Crews are continuing to seal pavement joints along the freeway while other crews are striping the travel lanes and installing pavement markers. A five-mile stretch of the Pima Freeway, between Tatum Boulevard in Phoenix and Pima Road in Scottsdale, will be striped this weekend. This work will require ongoing weekend closures and lane restrictions.

WEEKEND CLOSURES AND RESTRICTIONS

Pima Freeway between Tatum Boulevard and Pima Road

• The eastbound Pima Freeway will be closed between Tatum Boulevard and Pima Road from 10 p.m. Friday, July 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, for lane striping.
  • Southbound Detour: Drivers can use southbound Tatum Boulevard, and then turn east on Bell Road/Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard to access the eastbound Pima Freeway.
  • Northbound Detour: Drivers can use northbound Tatum Boulevard, turn east on Pinnacle Peak Road, then head south on Pima Road to access the eastbound Pima Freeway.

State Route 51 at the Pima Freeway

• The northbound State Route 51 on-ramps to the eastbound Pima Freeway will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, July 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, for lane striping.
  • Detour: Drivers may exit onto eastbound Bell Road, and then continue east on Bell Road/Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard to access the eastbound Pima Freeway.

Cave Creek Road at the Pima Freeway

• The eastbound Pima Freeway on-ramp at Cave Creek Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, July 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, for lane striping.
  • Southbound Detour: Drivers can use southbound Cave Creek Road, turn east on Union Hills Drive, then south on Tatum Boulevard. From there, travel east on Bell Road/Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard to access the eastbound Pima Freeway.
  • Northbound Detour: Drivers can use northbound Cave Creek Road, turn east on Pinnacle Peak Road, then head south on Pima Road to access the eastbound Pima Freeway.

Tatum Boulevard to Hayden Road On-Ramps at the Pima Freeway

• The eastbound Pima Freeway on-ramps at Tatum Boulevard, 56th Street, 64th Street, Scottsdale Road and Hayden Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, July 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, for lane striping.
  • Detour: Drivers may use eastbound Bell Road/Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard to access the eastbound Pima Freeway.

UPCOMING CLOSURES and RESTRICTIONS

Pima Freeway between Pima and Scottsdale Roads

• The westbound Pima Freeway between Pima and Scottsdale roads will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9.
  • Detour: Drivers can use northbound Pima Road, turn west on Thompson Peak Parkway, and then travel south on Scottsdale Road to access the westbound Pima Freeway.

Tatum Boulevard at the Pima Freeway

• North-and southbound Tatum Boulevard at the Pima Freeway will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6 to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9.
  • Northbound Detour: From the eastbound Pima Freeway, drivers may exit onto northbound 56th Street (under the freeway), then turn west on the Pima Freeway on-ramp, and exit onto northbound Tatum Boulevard.
  • Southbound Detour: From southbound State Route 51, drivers may exit onto westbound Union Hills Road to access Tatum Boulevard.

Raintree Drive to Hayden Road On-Ramps at the Pima Freeway

• The westbound Pima Freeway on-ramps at Raintree Drive, Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, Pima Road and Hayden Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, to 5 a.m. Monday, August 9.
  • Detour: Drivers may consider using westbound Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard or Thompson Peak Parkway to Scottsdale Road to access the westbound Pima Freeway.
