Plan for lane restrictions on US 60/State Route 260 as work gets underway on the Show Low Pavement Preservation Project

The Arizona Department of Transportation has begun a pavement preservation project on US 60 and State Route 260 in Show Low. These roadways serve as major corridors in Show Low and are some of the most-traveled corridors in the White Mountains region.

The project will include removing the existing pavement and replacing it with new pavement. Other work includes installing new guardrail, curb and gutter and sidewalks. The project will be constructed over two years and continue through the fall. After construction shuts down for the winter, work will resume from spring through fall 2022. Pavement work cannot be performed during the winter months in the White Mountains due to low temperatures and wet weather conditions.

Lane restrictions will not be in place during daytime hours or weekends, and business access will be maintained at all times during construction. Work will begin on the east side of US 60 and will proceed westward to SR 260 as the project progresses.

ADOT reminds drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment while the following overnight restrictions are in place:

  • US 60 (mileposts 336 to 342):  East- and westbound lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday evenings and continuing through Friday mornings.
  • SR 260 (mileposts 342 to 347):  East- and westbound lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday evenings and continuing through Friday mornings.
  • One travel lane will remain open in each direction while the overnight work is taking place.
  • Motorists should be prepared for delays of up to 20 minutes during overnight work.
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zones.

Over the past five years, pavement preservation projects have occurred on major interstates like I-40 and 1-10 as well as local state highways like SR 84 in Pinal County and SR 389 near the Utah state line. In addition to state roads, ADOT has also administered dozens of paving projects to help maintain local streets in communities across Arizona.
