Drivers who use Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) in the West Valley at night, including those traveling to the state’s COVID-19 vaccination site at State Farm Stadium, should prepare for lane and ramp restrictions at times during the week of March 15-19.
The Arizona Department of Transportation has a pavement maintenance project taking place through April in areas along Loop 101 between Thunderbird Road and Interstate 10. Drivers should allow extra travel time and use alternate routes as needed while the following restrictions are scheduled:
-
Northbound Loop 101 narrowed to one lane overnight between Maryland and Olive avenues from 8 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday (March 16). Northbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Maryland Avenue closed. Northbound Loop 101 exits near State Farm Stadium will remain open.
-
Southbound Loop 101 narrowed to two lanes (right lanes closed) overnight in areas between Thunderbird Road and Glendale Avenue from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday nights (March 16-18). Southbound Loop 101 on- or off-ramps between Thunderbird Road and Glendale Avenue also closed at times overnight as needed.
ADOT is working to limit impacts on travel to the State Farm Stadium vaccination site. Crews will not close two consecutive off-ramps near the stadium overnight. If an exit near the stadium is closed for the pavement crack sealing work, drivers should plan on using the next off-ramp.
Real-time highway conditions are available on ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site at az511.gov, by calling 511 and through ADOT’s Twitter feed, @ArizonaDOT.
