Overnight lane restrictions planned along I-10 near the Sacaton Rest Areas Oct. 11 - 15

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan ahead for overnight restrictions along Interstate 10 between Chandler and Casa Grande from Oct. 11 - 15. Construction activities and closures are subject to change based on weather or other unforeseen conditions. The following restrictions are scheduled: 

  • Eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane near the Sacaton Rest Area (east of SR 587) from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly on Sunday, Oct. 11 and Monday, Oct. 12 for paving. 
  • The Sacaton Rest Area along eastbound Interstate 10 will be closed from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11 and Monday, Oct. 12 for paving. 
    • Detour: Before getting to the closed rest area, drivers in need of services can exit eastbound I-10 at southbound State Route 587 toward Chandler/Gilbert or beyond the rest area at McCartney Road. As an alternate route, drivers can exit at SR 187/SR 387 toward Coolidge/Florence and use westbound I-10 to reach the Sacaton Rest Area facilities on that side of the highway.
  • Eastbound I-10 on- and off-ramps at SR 187/SR 387 will be closed from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11 and Monday, Oct. 12 for paving. The eastbound ramps will not be closed consecutively with the westbound ramps.
    • Detour: Drivers needing to access eastbound I-10 can use westbound I-10 and exit at State Route 587 toward Chandler/Gilbert and then return eastbound towards Tucson. Drivers needed to exit at SR 187/SR 387 toward Coolidge/Florence can continue to exit at McCartney Road and then return westbound I-10 to exit at SR 187/SR 387 toward Coolidge/Florence.
  • Westbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane near SR 187/ SR 387 and the Sacaton Rest Area from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly on Tuesday, Oct. 13 and Wednesday, Oct. 14 for paving. 
  • Westbound I-10 on- and off-ramps at SR 187/SR 387 will be closed from  6 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 12 and Tuesday, Oct. 13 for paving. The westbound ramps will not be closed consecutively with the eastbound ramps.
    • Detour: Drivers needing to access westbound I-10 can use eastbound I-10 and exit at McCartney Road and then return westbound towards Phoenix. Drivers needing to exit at SR 187/SR 387 toward Coolidge/Florence can continue to the I-10 off-ramp at State Route 587 toward Chandler/Gilbert and return on eastbound I-10 to exit at eastbound SR 187/SR 387 toward Coolidge/Florence. 
  • The Sacaton Rest Area on westbound Interstate 10 will be closed from  6 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14 and Thursday, Oct. 15.  
    • Detour: Before getting to the closed rest area, drivers in need of services can exit westbound I-10 at McCartney Road (exit 190) or beyond the rest area at northbound State Route 587 toward Chandler/Gilbert (exit 175). As an alternate route, drivers can exit at State Route 587 and use eastbound I-10 to reach the Sacaton Rest Area facilities on that side of the highway.

ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while paving work is underway.
