Full closure of Farmers Bridge near Cibola through April 25

Drivers should plan for detours through spring

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the temporary full closure of Farmers Bridge located between Imperial County, California, and 2.3 miles north of Cibola in La Paz County. The closure, already in place, is scheduled through Sunday, April 25.

The bridge rehabilitation project includes removal and replacement of existing guard rail, reinforcing bridge abutments, installing a new railing system, adding a drainage system, paving and other related work. ADOT is performing the work on behalf of La Paz County, which owns the bridge.

Drivers should plan to use detour routes and allow extra travel time while the temporary closure is in place. North and southbound traffic will be detoured on CA HWY 78 to Oxbow Bridge. 

Completion of the project is scheduled in spring 2021.
