Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) closures and restrictions planned between I-10 and Loop 101 through this weekend

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers in the Chandler area to plan ahead for the following closures on Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) between I-10 (Maricopa Freeway) and Loop 101 (Price Freeway) for pavement maintenance.

  • Eastbound Loop 202 will be narrowed to one lane between McClintock Drive and Price Road nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, and Thursday, Sept.17. The following ramps will also be closed:
    • Kyrene Road and McClintock Drive eastbound Loop 202 on-ramps
    • Eastbound Loop 202 interchange ramp to northbound Loop 101 
    • Eastbound Loop 202 off-ramp at Price Road
    • Detour: Drivers can use Kyrene Road to Chandler Boulevard to access northbound Loop 101 during the closures. 
  • Westbound Loop 202 between Loop 101 (Price Freeway) and I-10 will be CLOSED from 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, to 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 21. The following ramps will also be closed:
    • Southbound Loop 101 interchange ramp to westbound Loop 202 
    • Westbound Loop 202 on- and off-ramps at Price and Kyrene roads 
    • Westbound Loop 202 off-ramp at McClintock Drive
    • Westbound Loop 202 interchange ramps to east- and westbound I-10
    • Detour: All traffic traveling on westbound Loop 202 will be directed to northbound Loop 101. Drivers can then use westbound Ray Road to eastbound I-10 to access westbound Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway. Drivers can use Chandler Boulevard or Ray Road as alternate westbound local travel routes. 
  • Eastbound Loop 202 will be narrowed to one lane between I-10 and Loop 101 (Price Freeway) from 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, to 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 21. The eastbound I-10 HOV interchange ramp to eastbound Loop 202 will also be closed. 
    • Detour: Drivers can use Chandler Boulevard as an alternate eastbound local travel route.

Drivers should anticipate travel delays in the area and consider using alternate freeway routes, including US 60 Superstition and Loop 202 Red Mountain freeways.

ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while work is underway.
