Underground work complete for the State Route 87 signal project near Sacaton

Work is paused until new signal poles arrive

Underground and shoulder work for a signal project on State Route 87 on the Gila River Indian Community is complete, and all signs and other traffic control devices have been removed.

Crews completed the initial phase of work to install signals at SR 187/Olberg Road, Sacaton Road and Gilbert Road last week.

The project is temporarily paused until the new poles arrive, which is tentatively scheduled for mid-September.

Once the poles arrive, crews will begin installing them and activating the signals. Additional notice will be provided before that work and related traffic restrictions begin.

The project is expected to extend through the end of 2020.
