Colossal Cave/Wentworth Road to reopen over Interstate 10 on Aug. 1

Overnight closures of Colossal Cave/Wentworth Road to continue for about two weeks

Colossal Cave/Wentworth Road over Interstate 10 is scheduled to open to traffic by early morning Saturday, Aug. 1. 

While the bridge deck replacement has been completed, overnight closures of Colossal Cave/Wentworth Road at I-10 will continue for about two weeks while crews replace guardrail on eastbound I-10. Each night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., eastbound I-10 traffic will be directed off of I-10 using the exit ramp and will reenter I-10 using the entrance ramp.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the work.

Starting later in August, final guardrail work at the following locations will require occasional restrictions or ramp closures:

• Ramps at the Colossal Cave/Wentworth Road interchange
• The ramp from westbound I-10 to SR 83
• The I-10 frontage road north of I-10 near SR 83 and the connector road between SR 83 and the frontage road

Additional notices will be provided prior to any new restrictions.
