Travel Alert: I-10 (Papago Freeway) closed in either direction near Dysart Road starting Friday night, March 27

Plan ahead and expect delays as new interchange project in Avondale continues to make progress 

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers who use Interstate 10 (Papago Freeway) in the West Valley to plan ahead and expect delays in either direction between Dysart Road and Avondale Boulevard. Interstate 10 is scheduled to close at Fairway Drive beginning at 11 p.m., Friday, March 27, through 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, for bridge work.

Work is scheduled to occur as listed below:

  • Westbound I-10 will be closed and traffic will be detoured up and over the new Fairway Drive off- and on- ramps beginning at 11 p.m., Friday, March 27, through 5 p.m., Saturday, March 28.
  • Eastbound I-10 will be closed and traffic will be detoured up and over the new Fairway Drive off- and on- ramps beginning at 7 a.m., Saturday, March 28, through 7 p.m., Saturday, March 28.

Drivers should anticipate delays in either direction as traffic will be narrowed to one lane approaching Fairway Drive. Several ramps near the new interchange will also be closed intermittently. Alternate detour routes include McDowell Road or Van Buren Street.

*The schedule may be adjusted as work progresses.
